Connacht Squash

Coaching in Connacht
Connacht Squash places a very high priority on coaching especially for junior players.

Connacht Squash also run a Mini Squash programme in Schools in Galway and Sligo on behalf of the Irish Sports Council and Irish Squash who provide the funding for this initiative.

A Level 1 Coaching Course (revised syllabus) was run in Galway on the following dates:
Part 1: 26 - February 2011
Part 2: 5-6 March 2011 (this included the final examination)
Tutor was Frank Donnelly with Eddie Murphy (Irish Squash coaching secretary) as assessor.
11 people successfully completed the course and many of them are now actively involved in coaching in GLTC.

It is hoped to run a repeat course in Sligo/Ballina.

We seek to have at least one qualified coach in every affiliated club in Connacht by the end of the current season.
In the absence of coaches, squash can not prosper.
